For over one hundred and fifty years Alderman Davies has been making friends with it’s pupils, parents and wider community. This page celebrates the lives of our friends of both the past and present.
We hope that you enjoy taking a stroll down memory lane!
Mr Motivator!!!
We were all lucky in school to receive a visit from Mr Motivator and his team from ‘Bounce Kids’. Have a look at the video below to see what we got up to:
Our artist friend, Mr John Rees
Mr John Rees is a local artist who lives in Resolven near Neath. His work at school has been inspirational! Pop into school and see the magnificent mural he has painted on the stairwell leading to our Pod. Enjoy our video of Mr Rees explaining the detail: tracing the history of our town. Diolch yn fawr our friends at Communities First who contributed towards the mural.

Whenever we welcome visitors to our school our children love to put their interview skills to the test. Today was interesting, not only because we were welcoming Lucy Owen, one of the most recognisable personalities in Wales, to our school but because we were able to switch roles and put the questions to her. Lucy proved to be a fantastic interviewee who gave our budding journalists some great answers to their vast and varied questions.

It was a pleasure for our staff and year 5/6 pupils to meet Mr. Mark Dacey, Principal of Neath Port Talbot College. Neath Port Talbot College and Alderman Davies enjoy a great friendship and Mr. Dacey’s advice was very insightful for our eldest pupils. In the short video below, Mr. Dacey discusses children’s career aspirations.
We were delighted to be visited by Mr Clarke, a past pupil at ADS. He very kindly offered to be filmed talking about his experiences at school.
Gwenda Thomas AM
We were delighted to welcome Mrs Gwenda Thomas, our Assembly Member for Neath, to our school today (Friday 17th September). Mrs Thomas scheduled her visit to find out more about our schools involvement in the Comenius project along with schools from Norway, Estonia, England and Poland.
It was an absolute pleasure to have Mrs Thomas visit us and to allow her the opportunity to see the teaching and learning activities taking place throughout the school.
We look forward to her next visit.
