The British Council, because it recognises the importance of building strong European links between schools, provides schools with funding. Our school has benefited from three Comenius projects which have enabled us to welcome visitors from Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Estonia, Norway, Iceland and England.
We’ve also been privileged to visit all of these countries. At the moment you are able through our website to share just a few of the fantastic experiences we have enjoyed over the last two years as part of our project ‘Eye to eye – Heart to heart’. Keep watching this space because we have just heard that the British Council are prepared to fund another two year project for us.
Comenius Project 2011
Poland
Iceland
Before the Easter holiday, Mrs Dobson, Mr Dummer, Mrs Littlejohns, Mrs Knight and Mrs Lewis-Jones visited Iceland as part of the Comenius project. They learnt lots about education and way of life in Iceland, and have brought lots of ideas back from our partner school in Svalbardsskola for us to try in school. Below is a short video of some of the things our team of explorers experienced whilst in Iceland-
To celebrate the closer links between our countries we shared with the children our lovely experiences in Iceland. We chose to focus on ideas of recycling and reusing materials in our creative work, to keep our outdoor shoes for outdoors and to gather as ‘family groups’, where children of all ages have opportunity to meet, worship and chat together. Children have thoroughly enjoyed the experiences and look forward learning more about pedagogy in Poland.
